A functional and beautiful home is key to a thriving and healthy family lifestyle. I strive to provide my clients a place to live which makes their lives more efficient, peaceful and relaxing.

Sara Ho

Sara Ho is an interior designer who works with clients who appreciate Modern Design, and who want to improve their lifestyle and elevate their decor style. Sara believes that having a home that is not only beautiful but also functional is extremely important. Sara tailors her design approach to specifically identify her client’s needs while creating a home that reflects who they are.

Sara started her career working for Wilson Associates, a world-renowned hospitality design firm. She spent many years learning from seasoned designers, working with different types of clients, collaborating with other professionals in the construction field, and honing her software and presentation skills. Sara transitioned to owning her own business after she had her first child. Now she is passionate about helping other families with the re-design of their home.

In addition to earning her design degree and working in the industry for over 10 years, Sara and her family bought a little fixer-upper in the heart of Los Angeles, near downtown LA. Sara slowly transformed their house into a home that is not only peaceful but also a reflection of their family. Their home also served them well in their daily activities, and they love to have friends over to hang out and catch up. A home that is not only beautiful, but that also functions well becomes an extension of a well-run household, and it produces efficiency that is life giving.

Sara earned her AA in interior design from FIDM in Los Angeles.

sara ho design, llc

Sara Ho Design, LLC was established in 2016 by Sara & Luke Ho. As controversial as this may sound, Sara didn’t always want to be a business owner. It wasn’t until the birth of her first child that all her priorities changed. She wanted to have a flexible schedule, but she also didn’t want to give up design. That’s when she and Luke decided to start SHD.

Having a background in Hospitality Interior Design, over the years Sara became naturally drawn to the more modern design aesthetic’s. She also noticed that a lot of people want a home that is their sanctuary when they walk in the door after a long day, kind of like a hotel is a relaxing place to stay on a nice vacation. Sara wants to create that feeling for her clients. However, she isn’t targeting the very high-end client. Instead, Sara prefers to design for the average person. The average family. Just like her family. A beautiful, peaceful, modern design should be accessible to everyone.

The Ho's

Luke & Sara started as friends. After some time of getting to know each other, their friendship grew into something more. They married in 2014 and had their first child in 2016. Not only are they best friends, but they also work well together in life, marriage and business. They both know that they are better together than apart.

More about Sara

Sara grew up as a shy only child. She was born in New Orleans, and her family moved to Los Angeles when she was four. Growing up, her mom was always known as a fashionista and she has an eye for mixing colors and patterns. Sara’s father is an extremely talented Carpenter who has a passion for restoring old things. As she got older, Sara would tour old restored homes with her dad on the weekends. They loved visiting any Frank Lloyd Wright homes, the Gamble & Gamble home, Heritage Square Museum, the Pasadena showcase homes, and more. Through these experiences, Sara came to learn what beautiful interior design is. Although she prefers working with a Modern design aesthetic, she will always opt for keeping the original woodworking and millwork found in an old home. For fun, Sara loves to try new food, go shopping at flea markets, and take road trips with her family.

More about Luke

Luke is a retired US Marine Sergeant, a former rescue mine worker for Morton Salt, and oil rig mechanic. Currently, he is a Mechanical Engineer, and he runs the financial side of the business and does HVAC and Plumbing design for any of their projects that call for this specific service. Luke also helps Sara with the many home renovation projects that they dream up together for their own little fixer upper. His ideas are usually out of the box, and he operates on a different field than most people but that’s one quality that makes him special. One of the things that drew Sara to Luke when they first met is his no-nonsense approach to get things done, like a pro. Luke isn’t the type of person that sits around and wastes time, yet he knows when to let loose and have fun. Luke’s superpower would be finding a way to have fun in the mundane activities of life. In his spare time, Luke loves to just hang out with the family and take his daughter to the zoo.

Maybe this isn’t something typically shared on a business website, but Luke & Sara have never been typical. They love people, and because of that a lot of their time is spent getting to know others in their community. They were part of a small Christian church in Los Angeles that focuses on Loving neighbors and telling people about who Jesus is. Eventually, the Ho’s would like to start an organization that helps people in the community around the city fix their old homes, and bring a sense of peace and comfort to them by updating their rooms with great space planning and design. On any given Saturday you may find them at their local park coaching kid’s sports, participating in a local neighborhood clean-up, or just hanging out with new friends in the neighborhood. On Sunday you will almost always find them at their church gathering in Lincoln Heights.
